After spending a week blanketed by smoke, the haze finally lifted to allow juniors and seniors an opportunity to accumulate points in the swim, board, junior and senior iron person, flags, sprints and ski races.
More than 200 surf life savers competed on the day.
Round two and three are expected to take place in January and again in February.
