Lake Cathie has been allocated funding as part of the $6.7 billion NSW Government investment, to deliver over 190 new and upgraded schools across the state.
Work at Lake Cathie Public School is set to begin late 2019, subject to planning approval.
Lake Cathie Public School principal Jock Garven said the school is confident the state government and Schools Infrastructure will deliver a quality learning environment for the children, for use now and well into the future.
The school and project team held information sessions in October and November last year, to inform the community about the proposed plans for the upgrade.
Mr Garven said input into the design process has been an incredible experience for staff and parents of the school community.
Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams said the whole school community would benefit from the planned upgrade.
"The major upgrade at Lake Cathie Public School will ensure that local students will benefit from the latest in school design as well as emerging teaching methods and education technologies," Mrs Williams said.
AW Edwards was awarded the main works construction tender and the upgrade is set to be completed in 2020.
Education Minister Sarah Mitchell said the NSW Government was building on the state's world class education system.
"This major upgrade at Lake Cathie Public School will provide the local community with the high-quality education facilities our children need to succeed," Ms Mitchell said.
