'It's in the Bag' campaign collects and distributes personal items such as sanitary products to homeless women in the area in the lead-up to Christmas.
Ellen Marquet from Flirt Adult Store on Horton Street said the store is acting as a collection point this month and is also offering discounts on products that will be donated to the charity.
"They really are after anything they believe would encourage homeless people to get back on their feet which they may need for personal care," she said.
"All the products go back to women in need in the local community."
Ms Marquet said the store often raises money for charities.
"In September we raised over three thousand dollars for prostate cancer," she said.
Share the Dignity is national charity which aims to solve period poverty for women and teens experiencing homelessness and domestic violence and is asking for donations as part of the 'It's in the Bag' Christmas appeal.
From Friday, November 22, Bunnings Port Macquarie will also be a collection point for the charity.
'It's in the Bag' how-to guide:
- Donate a handbag or backpack in good, used condition
- Fill it with items that will make a difference to the daily life of a woman or teenager
- Include the essentials such as pads and tampons, roll-on deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and soap,
- If you can, add some little extras like lip balm and new socks, a magazine or book, anything that would make a woman or teenage girl feel special this Christmas
