A Cancer Council and the Hastings Relay for Life committee spokesperson said they are committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of all participants and this was paramount in making this challenging decision.
A new date will be announced and will likely be February-March 2020.
For the 165 teams registered for the event, raffle tickets can still be sold and registration will transfer to the new date.
Last year, the NSW Cancer Council invested more than $18 million into cancer research.
Cancer Council NSW's Lauren Fraser said the event is a fun way for the community to be involved.
"Over 800 people per year are diagnosed with cancer in our lower mid north coast community," she said.
"Events such as these help the Cancer Council provide local services to support patients including access to our Transport to Treatment, access to cancer specialists via our 131120 Information Support Line, Support Groups, financial and legal aid, counselling and accommodation services.
"Your support funds world-class research, helping to improve outcomes for cancer patients, allowing us to work towards a cancer free future."
