The plans have been underway for a number of months now after the idea was raised in March after Laurieton successfully hosted the Multi Sports Challenge.
Race director Peter Nash permits have been secured and a course has been finalised but there is still one hurdle he hopes the community can help overcome.
"Parkrun is an idea that has been floating around for a while now and we are doing everything we can to get it over the line," Nash said.
"Lots of people from the Camden Haven travel to the parkrun in either Port Macquarie or Wauchope and both are getting more and more crowded.
"We have the perfect venue being Queenslake foreshore and we have spoken to the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council about getting permits which have all been fine.
"What is holding us up now is funding all the insurance and official parkrun registration."
Parkrun itself is a free, weekly, five kilometre timed run which is open to the whole community.
There are more than 350 registered parkruns around Australia with more than 604,890 runners registered to run.
It is not a race so much as an opportunity for people to get fit in a fun, family friendly environment where the only competition is yourself
The bill to cover insurance and official registration is about $7,500 and Nash said he hoped being open with the community would increase support.
"We are looking for businesses, community groups and individuals to come on board and pledge or donate money so that we can officially get parkrun Queenslake off the ground."
Nash said that if all things go well the money will be raised before the end of the year for the first Queenslake parkrun to occur early in the new year.
He also said he expects a parkrun in the Camden Haven at Queenslake would be popular for tourists wanting to complete the alphabet challenge.
"In the parkrun world there is a thing called the alphabet challenge where parkrunners travel to different courses depending on what they are called," he said.
"If we were able to get Queenslake off the ground we would be one of only four other parkruns which start with the letter 'Q' so I imagine people from all over would come to town just for parkrun.

"I know people who have travelled overseas and planned their trip around international parkruns so I think it could have some great economic benefits to the local community as well.
"Parkrun is a chance for the community to come out and do something a little bit social while doing a little bit of exercise."
