Parking management in the town centres of Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Laurieton and North Haven will also be in the spotlight.

Community input will feed into the parking strategy review.

The review of Port Macquarie-Hastings Council's parking strategy is expected to start in the first half of 2020.

The review will take about 12 months to draft report stage.

The parking strategy review will provide direction on how the council oversees parking supply and manages future parking provisions.

It is limited to a review of parking management within the town centres of Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Laurieton and North Haven with one extension from the existing strategy to include the Lake Road industrial area following community concerns about increased congestion.

A report to the October council meeting said the review would challenge the current approach to parking through consideration of appropriate parking management approaches and systems to adopt a more holistic response to the transport challenge of parking.

The review will include collection of parking use data, engagement with key stakeholders and the broader community and assessment of future parking demand.

A draft report is expected to be presented to the council in the first quarter of 2021.

The draft report will then be presented to the community through public exhibition for comment.

A final report is expected to go to the council addressing any community issues highlighted within four months of the exhibition period.

The current parking strategy outlines proposed short, medium and long-term activities to address parking supply and demand, primarily across the town centres of Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Laurieton and North Haven over a 20-year period from 2011.
