Then A Reading Circle could be for you.
The book club with a difference is a partnership between Mid North Coast Community College and Port Macquarie Library.
Mid North Coast Community College volunteers Tom Taylor and Jenny Lester host the book club at Port Macquarie Library each Monday during school terms.
Mid North Coast Community College literacy coordinator Alison Powell said A Reading Circle was essentially a book club with a difference.
"The aim is to provide an opportunity for people who might like to experience the love of literature but don't feel confident enough to go along to a regular book club," she said.
Chapters are read aloud and discussed.
Participants can take part in reading aloud or simply enjoy listening to the story unfold.
The novel, Mr Wigg, which celebrates the small things in life, is the group's first book.
Ms Lester said the initiative was working really well.
"It is a lovely, relaxing time to read together," she said.
"I love reading and I always think life is so enjoyable when you read."
Mr Taylor said the book club had moved with a flow right from the start.
"There are new people joining as we go along," he said.
Mr Taylor, who has a history of volunteering, said he enjoyed the company and the reading.
A Reading Circle has an emphasis on creating a relaxed and inclusive place for all community members to share the joy of reading.
The group meets at Port Macquarie Library from 10am to noon on Mondays during school terms.
New members are invited to take part.
