The 68-year-old Port Macquarie man appeared before Magistrate Jennifer Price in Port Macquarie Local Court on October 10.
The man, from Bridge Street, remains on conditional bail. He has not entered a plea.
The charge of take/detain a child with intent to remove from parental control carries a maximum penalty of 10 years' jail.
According to court documents, the incident allegedly occurred between 4pm and 5.30pm at a Port Macquarie business on May 23, 2019.
The bail conditions include, not entering an electronics store on Short Street, Port Macquarie, not contacting the alleged victim and not approaching any person aged under 16 years.
Magistrate Price adjourned the case to the Port Macquarie Local Court on December 5.
