The art journaling program for mental health carers, a partnership between Mission Australia and Grace Church Port Macquarie, spanned three years.
Carer Lyn acknowledged the support of Grace Church and the Sisters Keeper group during the project.
"We learnt many new creative art skills and techniques and a part of that whole experience for us was we could leave everything at the door," she said.
Lyn said the carers could leave their concerns, worries, and for some their isolation, at the door and be immersed in creative arts activities and pursuits.
The morning tea also heard from carer Sheila Openshaw and Family and Carer Mental Health Program's Claudia Richardson.
Performance poet Rob Cummins entertained the crowd.
The Art of Journaling for Carers Exhibition is on show at Port Macquarie Library during October.
The carers gathered at the library for the morning tea on Monday, October 14 as part of Carers Week.
Ms Richardson has taken the art journaling program, under the Mission Australia banner, to Kempsey and Sawtell.
She said Carers Week was a celebration of carers.
"It's really important to acknowledge their role in our community and they are doing a really fantastic job, often unacknowledged by the wider community," Ms Richardson said.
There are about 2.7 million carers in Australia including about 250,000 mental health carers.
