PORT Pirates will start their highly-anticipated Mid North Coast Premier League cricket title tilt against cross-town rivals Port City Leagues Magpies at Wayne Richards Park on Saturday.
As previously reported, seven sides will contest this year's premier league. Initially eight teams nominated, however, Kempsey club Nulla withdrew last week due to a lack of players of sufficient quality.
In other first round games, Taree West will host last season's grand finalists Wauchope RSL at Johnny Martin Oval while defending champions Taree United heads to Kempsey to clash with Rovers.
Wingham will have the first round bye.
Connor Cook will take the reins at Pirates while Adam Broderick will toss the coin for the Magpies.
Ricky Campbell will again lead United while Michael Rees will have charge at Wingham. Dean Mills returns to Taree West this season to take over as captain.
There'll be no play on October 26 because of the Regional Big Bash Round to be played at either Armidale or Tamworth.
T20 games will be played from December 7 through to January 18, with the competition breaking for Christmas/New Year on December 21 before returning on January 18.
In all 21 rounds are scheduled with the semi-finals to be played on March 21 and the final on March 28. April 4 has been set aside should wet weather rule out play on March 21.
