There is something for everyone especially with the opening last week of the new playground and off-leash dog areas at Stuart Park Port Macquarie.
The smiles on the kids' faces said it all. There's a fantastic range of play experiences including both natural and musical elements, some fabulous carved kangaroos, a six-metre high lunar climbing net, balancing logs and swings.
And isn't it great that the playground can be enjoyed by all abilities, with a wheelchair accessible spinner also included.
Our furry friends can now also enjoy two separate fenced dog parks ... one for large dogs, and one for our smaller pals. With lots of natural shade and a range of agility equipment, you simply must take Fido down for some fun these school holidays.
Stuart Park joins the other off-leash dog areas that we have at Blackbutt Park in Wauchope, Henry Kendall Reserve in Laurieton and of course, a selection of beaches in Port Macquarie.
The exciting news is there's another one planned to be built at the new Hastings Regional Sports Fields in the not-too-distant future.
And at Stuart Park there's more to come, with the addition of multi-usage sports courts, refurbished amenities and spectator seating all happening in the coming months.
This is an investment of nearly $4 million into the development of Stuart Park and its sporting infrastructure, with $3.192 million from the NSW government under the Regional Sports Infrastructure Fund, and council contributing $800,000.
And don't forget our parks and playgrounds interactive map, which can be found on the council website pmhc.nsw.gov.au/playgrounds. It displays all our parks, playgrounds and reserves and shows you what is available to enjoy at each one, making it easy to choose your next adventure with the family and kids.
So what are you waiting for? Grab your two-legged and four-legged friends and come for a play at Stuart Park.
