Do they not know, or care that Boat Harbour was created by convicts who were sent here to serve out their sentences?
Many convicts remained here after their release and have descendants living in the area today.
When Port Macquarie was a port, Boat Harbour (between Town Beach and Flagstaff) was one of the busiest areas where ships too big to cross the bar, would be unloaded at sea and goods and passengers brought to land through Boat Harbour.
The marks from the primitive tools used can still be seen on the rocks where the jagged edges were chipped away so as the wooden boats would not be damaged when coming ashore.
Yes, a tidal pool would be great for the town but not at the expense of an historical site.
Parking, already a problem, would be worse and would cause dire consequences should an emergency happen.
