Pistachio is right at home exploring the great outdoors, particularly the beach, with his owner Kirrily Hargreaves by his side.
But Pistachio's life wasn't always an adventurous one.
When Kirrily saw Pistachio's Blacktown pound picture he looked angry and miserable but Kirrily knew he was the cat for her.
Pistachio was too young and sick with the cat flu to be adopted straight away so Kirrily waited until he recovered to bring Pistachio home to Port Macquarie.
Pistachio was always an indoor cat until one day three years ago when Kirrily took him to the beach and he hasn't looked back.
People have a range of reactions when they see Pistachio and Kirrily on an adventure.
Kirrily said: "Sometimes we get ignored but often I can hear them whispering, "Is that a cat?"
"I've taken him to the foreshore markets and it's mostly excitement, especially from kids."
He wears a lead in high-risk environments.
Pistachio, who lives with six dogs and three cats, has a chilled-out, loving and loyal nature.
The six-year-old cat is fast becoming a star on Instagram with 5900 followers.
Adventurous cats and their owners are part of a growing community in Australia and around the world.
Kirrily says Pistachio is the most lazy of the adventure cats.
"If he can get me to pick him up instead of walking, he will do it," she said.
"He is just so fearless, probably to a fault."
Pistachio will even venture into the river with the water up to his chest.
Kirrily and Pistachio's adventures have taken them as far as Sydney.
Pistachio even had his photo taken with the Sydney Harbour Bridge as a backdrop.
The pair is bound for the Cat Lovers Show in Melbourne in late 2019 as Pistachio will be part of the Cat Explorer stall.
The event celebrates the friendship and unconditional love shared with our feline friends.
