A dozen volunteers from the NSW State Emergency Services (SES) Wauchope Unit completed the support drills on September 25.
Crews were tasked with finding and treating a number of dummy casualties during the low-visibility building collapse scenario in the unit's garage area.
Deputy unit commander Gerard 'Gerry' De Vries said the internal training readies the unit for potential emergencies.
"We're a support agency for a number of agencies around Wauchope. If there is a building collapse we would get asked to assist," he said.
"This basic training with our troops with respect to going into a building, finding their way around in the dark, navigating debris and what to do if they find someone.
"Our job would be to get in there and make the area safe with other rescue agencies such as NSW Fire and Rescue.
"We train every Wednesday night at 6.30pm for all manner of emergencies which we are likely to attend."
Members of the public interested in joining the SES and donating their available time can visit the SES website or attend a Wednesday training night.
Emergency services were called to a building collapse in March this year after a car crashed into the Wauchope Service NSW Centre at Timbertown shopping centre.
