St Peter's Primary School celebrated Grandparents Day with afternoon tea and a special presentation.
Isla said she was "hoping everybody had a good time and her grandparents enjoyed their day".
Mrs Martin said it was a good opportunity to see Isla's "work and meet her friends".
"We even meet up with friends of ours who are grandparents."
Julie and Alan have 12 grandchildren.
What is the difference between being a grandparent and a parent?
"You seem to have more time to spend with the kids and do special things," said Mrs Martin.
St Peter's Primary School teacher Amanda Thomas said it was a celebration of "what we love about our families".
Grandparents and other significant older role models were invited to the special day.
"All who impart wisdom," she said.
Mrs Thomas said the reaction from students when they see their loved ones was priceless.
"Some of the reactions are just pure joy and excitement that somebody would take the time out of their day to be with them, see their classroom and so forth" she said.
"Just that acknowledgement."
