A Wauchope woman who drove with her eight old son in her car while she was almost five times over the limit, has been ordered to abstain from alcohol and enter rehabilitation.
Amanda Jane West, 43 of Colonial Circuit pleaded guilty to the high range PCA charge in Port Macquarie Local Court on September 18.
The P-plate driver also pleaded guilty on a second charge, of driving with a special range PCA.
West appeared before Magistrate Price.
Court documents show that police observed and eventually stopped a vehicle drive by West in Sutherland Street, Wauchope at around 5pm.
Police noticed that West's eight year old son was also in the vehicle at the time. The accused failed a breath test, was arrested and taken to Wauchope Police Station where she failed a second test.
The reading was .243.
West told police she had consumed five stubbies of beer during the afternoon.
On the second charge, a vehicle West was driving was stopped by police on May 15 at around 2pm.
She was subjected to a breath test which returned a positive reading.
Court documents indicate West told police she had consumed two alcoholic drinks an hour prior to driving.
The maximum penalty for the high range PCA is $5500 and two years' jail while the second offence carries a maximum fine of $2200.
Magistrate Price convicted West on both charges.
On the high range PCA, West was disqualified from driving for 12 months, ordered to drive with zero alcohol in her blood for 48 months, undertake supervision of community corrections for nine months, was placed on an interim corrections order, ordered to serve 50 hours community service and ordered to abstain from alcohol and enter rehabilitation.
On the special range PCA West was, disqualified from driving for three months, ordered to drive with zero alcohol in her blood for 12 months, undertake supervision of community corrections for two months and placed on a conditional release order.
