The good but patchy south-easterly breeze and a strong run out tide made for a very pleasant afternoon's sailing.
It was good to see a strong enough turnout of junior sailors to run a separate race to the seniors.
Charlie Nosworthy on Vitamin C finished first with a good lead on Elsa Gandy & Isla Smith on Sailfish and Oliver Houghton on Yang.
They were closely followed by Bridgette Taylor and Simon Gandy on Dorado, then came Caitlin Hicks, Jaiden Bourke and Cameron Halmi on Brittania and Jett Hodgson on Baby Blue.
Drake Houghton on Yin also sailed in his first race on his new boat. Well done all.
No pre-race junior sailing next weekend as it is a double header race day starting with the first race at 11am.
A smaller catamaran fleet raced four laps with Frank O'Rourke on Dino keeping ahead of Rowan Nosworthy on Return, followed by Dion Carle on Scaramouche after many years away.
The monohull division had eight starters.
Paul Robertson & Caleb Bohlsen on Flembouyant won the day well ahead of Martina Holt on Spellbound who had made up good time after a confused start.
She was followed by Roger Shipton on Zazoo, Steve Bohlsen & Ed Maloney on Interceptor, Steve Couch on LazyBuoy, Stuart Symons & Liam Halmi on Elmo, Jane Cooper on Pineapple and Mick Hodgson on Big Blue.
Next weekend is race two of the Spring Series starting at 11 am followed by the first club championship at 1 pm.
There will be a BBQ lunch between races.
