The scores were locked at 6-6 at halftime, with Leilani Grainger scoring for the Breakers and Dianne Lawrence landed the goal. Ash Alcorn scored for the Hawks with Lisa Bullivant kicking the goal.
The second half was a torrid affair, with both sides defending strongly. However, a try to Maia Marino broke the deadlock for the Breakers.Lawrence kicked the goal and then added a penalty to seal the win.
Laura Cudmore from the Breakers was named player of the match.
The Breakers dominated the competition-proper but lost the major semi-final when beaten by the Hawks. Coach Troy Roach said this loss was timely.
"The motivation to keep going was probably dropping,'' he said.
Two go two years without losing a game was outstanding. But we lost the major semi and we knew we had to do more than just turn up.'
Roach sad his side was primed for the grand final.
"I knew it was going to be our day,'' he said.
"But I thought both teams were outstanding.''
He said Cudmore was superb in what was a fine team effort.''
