Mid North Coast Cricket Council vice-president Craig Lobegeier confirmed they had been in talks with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council about upgrading the current light requirements.
They currently measure 100 lux, but Lobegeier said they had been informed they would be upgraded to 300 lux by the middle of October.
It would allow Twenty20 fixtures featuring Hastings sides to be played midweek such was the case a couple of seasons ago.
Improving the lighting at Wayne Richards Park is also on the agenda.
Mid North Coast Cricket Council also held their annual general meeting on August 19 where eight teams were confirmed for the upcoming season.
"We are also meeting with Gloucester and they may field one team, but that won't be until at least next season," Lobegeier said.
Macquarie Hotel will not take their place in this season's competition which will reduce the 40-over season to 16-rounds along with extra Twenty20 fixtures.
All results across both formats will count towards a team's overall ladder position with 40-over wins being worth six points, while Twenty20 victories will be worth three points.
Should a team forfeit, the opposition will gain maximum points while any grade associated with the club that forfeits their Premier League fixture to play for zero points.
The Macquarie Coast Stingers will start their Regional Big Bash League campaign at the end of October while the Premier League will start on October 12.
