Port Macquarie Public School students made the most of the Appeal with an annual fundraiser free dress day held on Thursday.
Teacher Jennie Maxwell said the cause holds a special place the school.
"The kids love it because they don't have to wear their uniform, but it's mostly about the fundraising with gold coin donations," she said.
"The school puts a lot of importance on it because we select which charities we will support at the start of each year.
"We always fundraise for Daffodil Day because it's close to hearts of the kids and their families - something we all have an affinity with.
"It's something we will continue to support as long as we can."
Local drivers are also on a mission of generosity as Fastway Couriers delivered 82 boxes of daffodils to Taree, Wauchope, Lake Cathie, Forster and Port Macquarie.
The bright yellow blooms are delivered to their destinations free of charge as part of an annual commitment to the important fundraising day.
General manager Michael Wynter said the flowers make their way down the coast from Queensland before being distributed across the region.
"They go to the people who are going to be selling them," he said.
"It's something we support every year and have been for around 10 years.
"It's just good to give back to the Cancer Council. Something simple we can do, yet they appreciate it greatly.
"We take care of the flowers and our guys make a special trip for them because we don't want any boxes on top of them."
Flowers and other merchandise sold on the day by Cancer Council volunteers go towards supporting those affected by cancer and researching a way forward towards a cancer free future.
Each year the Daffodil Day Appeal aims to raise more than $4 million. One in every two Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85, according to Cancer Council Australia.
