Roller Derby is an all inclusive sport for adults of any shape size or gender.
The end of this month (August 31st) will mark six years since the representative team, "The Breakwall Brawlers," played their first game against Ipswich Roller Derby.
The Brawlers are currently undefeated this season and hope to bring home a win against their 'Sisters from the South.'
The team of twelve fierce female skaters will take to the track alongside their bench staff 'Brutal' and 'Night Hawk.'
The team will be captained by Sophie McAuliffe - or as her teammates know her, "Sophiopath" - who has been skating with PMRDL since she was seventeen.
A game of derby is split into two thirty minute periods, with as many two minute 'jams' as it takes to score points.
Points are scored for every opposing player that the Jammer passes and the team with the highest score at full time wins.
Roller derby began its life as a spectator sport (much like in wrestling), but since it's revival in Texas 19 years ago, it has become a sport of extreme athleticism.
The doors open at 12pm with the main game starting at 12.30 pm and followed by a 'scrim' where all skaters (of any gender) can play in a friendly game.
Adults tickets are $10 each and under 16's can spectate for free.
