They will take their place alongside another 18 of Australia's best cyclists who will pull on the green and gold in Yorkshire from September 22-29.
Kitchen will appear in her fourth elite world championship race and sixth overall and said it was always exciting and a privilege to pull on the green and gold.
"It's great to be back in the Australian world's team; I haven't been part of the squad since 2016 so I'm really looking forward to it," she said.
"It is an Olympic year next year, so it's the right moment to be stepping up."
The 28-year-old said she had targeted selection in the team for a long time and the level of cycling was so high now "it was a tough team to make."
"The past two years the Australian women have won silver in the road race at the world championships, so the level from Australia is really world-class and this year will be no different, I'm sure," she said.
"It's a big achievement to be a part of this team."
Currently, Kitchen is on a training camp in Livigno with the Australian national team with a focus on team bonding ahead of the championships.
Cycling Australia road technical director Brad McGee was looking forward to seeing what the Australian team could achieve.
"These world championships will be unique, not like what we have seen in the past," he said.
"There are a lot of unknowns, and I expect these races to be very open and very dynamic."
