The event 'Bioluminescence, Brushstrokes and Beers' is part of CSU's 'Science in the Pub' series, and will examine the important role art plays within science, and will feature discussions on climate change.

Director of External Engagement at Charles Sturt in Port Macquarie Kate Wood-Foye said the event is free and will be held at Zebu bar, Port Macquarie.

"Attendees can listen to engaging presentations on the parallels between art and science by experts in their fields," Ms Wood-Foye said.

"There will also be plenty of opportunities for attendees to get involved in the event because it features a relaxed interactive discussion, a question-and-answers session, and the opportunity for networking."

Presenters for the event include Dr Beric Henderson, cosmographic artist and former Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Sydney.

Dr Henderson is a local artist based in Port Macquarie whose work is dedicated to the overlap in the creative processes in art and science.

He will discuss the role of creativity in art and science, and lead a discussion on climate change and how art can lead the way in growing public awareness.

Senior lecturer in genetics and gene technologies in the CSU School of Biomedical Sciences, Dr Nigel Urwin, will lead a presentation on bioluminescence discussing the 'organisms that light up our lives'.

The presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

The 'Bioluminescence, Brushstrokes and Beers' event starts at 6pm.
