Their men's open crew finished first by a second and a half over Kempsey at the North Coast regatta.
President Andrew Blundell said it was a satisfying result to beat the more fancied teams from Newcastle and the Central Coast.
"Being up against teams from Newcastle who have around 280 members they can afford to cherry-pick their team so you don't know who you're up against," he said.
"It shows the depth of rowing in our area."
Blundell admitted he had high hopes of a positive result although the Port Macquarie team "did it easily."
"That much of a gap between first and second over 200 metres is quite impressive."
Fourteen clubs were represented in total including from as far west as Dubbo and Parkes and as far north as Grafton.
It had now created a healthy rivalry between the Port Macquarie men's and women's teams.
"The men's team have improved so much they're now doing better than the women," Blundell said.
