As a part of the process of reviewing how the structure fits into its four divisions, six jobs have been identified as being impacted.
Council is now working with impacted staff and the union over voluntary redundancies, general manager Craig Swift-McNair said.
The decision to adopt a revised structure was made and supported unanimously by all councillors at the July council meeting, in accordance with Section 333 of the NSW Local Government Act 1993.
"What this means is that council is now in the middle of a 28-day notification period with staff and the relevant unions, as required under the Local Government (State) Award 2017," general manager Craig Swift-McNair said.
The revised organisation structure will retain council's four divisions - strategy and growth; development and environment; infrastructure and corporate performance.
Mr Swift-McNair said the structural changes are occurring at a group manager level.
"One of the key drivers for these changes is that our local government area is facing a period of continued growth, and because of this there are increased demands on the organisation," Mr Swift-McNair said.
"These increasing demands and expectations are not only from a delivery of outcomes perspective, but also from a broader political, strategic and future planning perspective.
"The changes are largely about how council can improve the overall customer experience and how we can better engage with the community.
"In addition, the changes ensure we are well placed to deal with high level strategy development across the organisation, and ensuring we get planning right upfront, prior to undertaking actions."
The six staff in the impacted roles have been offered voluntary redundancy, but have the opportunity to take up other roles within the organisation.
