The Relay for Life event was officially launched on Sunday, August 4 during an event at Port City Bowling Club.
The event featured a fun, non-competitive barefoot bowls competition with teams of three.
Cancer Council NSW lower Mid North Coast community relations coordinator Lauren Fraser said it's important to rally the community in the lead up to the Hastings Relay for Life event in November.
She said over 400 people in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region are diagnosed with cancer each year.
Ms Fraser said the Cancer Council NSW relies on community-driven fundraisers to help the organisation deliver vital services including transport to treatment, access to cancer specialists, support groups, financial and legal aid, counselling and accommodation services.
The Hastings Relay For Life is at Oxley Oval on November 2 and 3 and will feature a spooky theme.
For more information on the Hastings Relay For Life visit the cancer council's website or call 6659 8400.
