The event is at Douglas Vale Historic Homestead and Vineyard from 9.30am until 2.30pm.
The event celebrates National Gardening Week in Port Macquarie. National Garden Week this year spans from October 13-19.
The theme this year is on children and gardens. What better way to illustrate this than through involving children on the day.
This will be done through inviting children to participate in a book launch of a beautifully illustrated children's picture book titled "The Prickly Princess and the Pixies."
Set in a lovely garden, the story tells of the search for love and acceptance, by one of Australia's unique insects. Children will be given clues and encouraged to search for the Giant Prickly Stick Insect at Douglas Vale.
There will also be a colouring in competition open to all the Primary Schools in Port Macquarie.
Visitors to the Douglas Vale Garden Party can look forward to not only stalls, displays, tours, food and wine but also some wonderful entertainment.
The well known and loved "Sing Australia "Choir will commence the day with their entertaining melodies.
This Group commenced with only twelve members in 2002 and has now grown to over one hundred. It meets every Monday night and is well known for providing entertainment to nursing homes, retirement villages, social clubs, community and charity events.
During recent years "Sing Australia "has proven to be so popular that two further groups have been established, the first in Wauchope and a second daytime group in Port Macquarie.
The Port Macquarie Bush Poets never cease to amaze their audiences with their wonderful selection of bush poetry. They meet on the 2nd and 4th Sunday afternoons of the month at the Senior Citizens Hall in Munster Street from 1pm until 4pm.
They love sharing their wealth of poetry with others.
Khristina Joy and the Z Chords are a group of enthusiastic and talented singers and ukulele players who are keen to share their love of music with their audience. Enjoy a fast- paced mystery tour of popular music. You may even like to sing along with them!
New to Douglas Vale but certainly not to Australia, is well known and popular entertainer, Trevor Knight.
He is one of Australia's finest Country/ Folk entertainers and has a fine reputation as a song writer, having won two Golden Globe Awards with many more nominations.
He has performed in concerts around the world, performing in such countries as Peru, Tokyo, America Russia and England. He gave a performance for her majesty, Queen Elizabeth, and his international acclaimed show "Rocky Mountain Echoes" has been rated as one of the best interpretations of the music of John Denver.
Playing his Acoustic Guitar and 5 string Banjo, you will be taken on a magical tour of memories by Trevor.
He will be performing twice at the Douglas Vale Garden Party at 11.30am and at 1.45 pm.
"Spiral Time" features the music of Susan Ashton and Tom McIlveen.
These wonderful performers are no strangers to Douglas Vale and willingly donate their time and talents. Tom plays guitar and harmonica and does back up vocals for Susan. Susan is a very talented singer and guitar player.
They offer a diverse mix of timeless hits from the 60's and 70's in folk, rock and pop music.
A highlight of the Program will be at 12.15pm when various community groups will be represented by members who will give presentations on the gardens of Port Macquarie.
Such representations will be from Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, The Lost Plot, Mrs York's Garden, Sea Acres Rainforest, Eastport High School, Port Macquarie Library Garden and Douglas Vale.
There will be a wonderful opportunity here for those keen garden enthusiasts to purchase plants and to learn about how best to grow them
The Garden Party entertainment program runs from 9.30am until 2.30pm. All this and so much more for only a gold coin donation.
