The teenager will take her place for Port City in the second-row in the first-ever under-16 Group 3 girls tackle grand final against Wauchope at Wingham on Sunday.
Port City will aim to be the inaugural winners of the winter comp that started following the success of the Nines last October.
Hyde made the transition into the Breakers side little more than a month ago and she instantly looked like she belonged.
Perhaps that can be put down to numerous backyard games with older brother Tyler and cousins Josh, Ethan and Ben over the years.
"It's good to be able to smash people," the teenager said when asked what she enjoyed most about the game.
The Breakers will go in as rank outsiders against the Blues who are so far undefeated this season.
But captain Arnykah Dumas said they were quietly confident of causing an upset and becoming the first-ever premiers of the competition.
"We've played our hardest and have succeeded to get to this point," she said.
They haven't always had it their own way throughout the season with work commitments causing headaches for the coaching staff at training.
"We still don't have a lot turn up to training because of work, but they're starting to turn up now which helps," Dumas said.
Assistant coach Tanyia Farrawell admitted there had been times if they wondered if it was all worth it.
"At times it was not easy getting some of these girls to training," she said.
"Some days we would get four, five or even eight to training and quite often we were left pulling our hair out and wondering if it was all worth it."
But their 10-8 victory over Taree last weekend was the result of a season of hard work.
Dumas said they were looking forward to the challenge of inflicting the Blues' first defeat of the season.
"They're really good; they snatch the ball a lot and their running is really good so hopefully our girls do that on Sunday," she said.
Kick-off is at 10am at the Wingham Sporting Complex.
