The group hopes to create an app, or a recovery tool, which would measure all aspects of recovery and allow people to track their progress.
It would also provide the opportunity to assist organisations with future planning and to set their own goals.
The recovery-focused toolkit's development draws on the knowledge and expertise of people with lived experience of mental health issues and their carers.
A group of peer workers, people with lived experience, carers and Endeavour Mental Health Recovery Clubhouse staff met for the first time with a blank agenda and decided on the next steps.
Endeavour Mental Health Recovery Clubhouse recovery support worker Nicole McIntosh said the knowledge of people with lived experience was key to developing an effective recovery tool.
"We want them to know their contribution is valuable, " she said.
The group has developed a basic app concept and some key recovery-focused ideas.
There is the potential for the app to become a statewide recovery tool.
Endeavour Mental Health Recovery Clubhouse secured grant funding through the Mental Health Commission of NSW for the project which was aligned with the lived experience framework.
The framework encourages service providers to embrace the knowledge which lived experience can bring to service design, delivery, monitoring, evaluation and improvement activities.
