The meeting will go ahead on Monday, July 29.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council general manager Craig Swift-McNair said he had met with the Revive Lake Cathie board and one of the actions was to get ourselves as local government to a position with state agencies where they had a broad and agreed understanding of the key issues.
Meeting invitations have gone out to the relevant state government agencies as well as to the state and federal members.
"All the key agencies involved in Lake Cathie need to have an understanding of what we all see as the key issues," Mr Swift-McNair said.
He said hopefully the discussions would bring some kind of shared understanding about what needed to be done moving forward.
The aim is to then have a public meeting.
A DPIE (Department of Planning, Industry and Environment) Environment, Energy and Science spokesperson said issues around the Lake Innes/Lake Cathie system were complex and ongoing and DPIE Environment, Energy and Science looked forward to continuing the discussion around this important area at council's meeting.
Concerns over the estuary's ailing health led to the formation of Revive Lake Cathie.
Revive Lake Cathie president Danielle Maltman said she hoped the meeting led to clarity around the lake's management.
