The Hastings Secondary College student made his first grade debut for the Port City Breakers last Sunday, before he received news he had been selected in the NSW Combined High Schools touch football team.
He could complete the trifecta this weekend when he heads to Narrabeen aiming to be selected in the Australian under-18 touch footy side.
They will compete at the National Touch Youth Championships at the Sunshine Coast in September.
His impressive performance for Port Macquarie Makos at last year's NSW Senior State Cup was where it all started.
Then it snowballed from there.
"From senior state cup, they picked the Northern Eagles open men's team to play at the National Touch League," he said.
"Then I was scouted by an Australian selector and they picked me in the national youth squad to trial."
Last year, he was selected in the NSW under-18 development team before he had to pull out due to financial constraints.
"There was a lot of travel down to Sydney needed every weekend so I couldn't go, but hopefully this year I can go that extra step," he said.
"I've learned a fair bit along the way.
"The coach for the CHS team is an Australian open player, so he's provided a lot of technical skills and attributes to help me with my game."
Nixon didn't feel any pressure to make the final cut at this weekend's three-day training camp.
"If I get down there and don't make it, so be it. I can just try my best," he said.
"It would be massive (to make the final side); I can't comprehend how it would help my game because it would also establish Port junior touch."
Even if he wasn't successful having his name read out next week as being on the plane to the Sunshine Coast, the teenager was looking forward to how his experience would benefit others.
"I'll learn a lot, then come back and help other people who haven't been so fortunate to try and make where I've been," he said.
"I don't think there's any real pressure; I'll be confident and just cruise into it.
"I'll be down there with a lot of Sydney and metro players so I need to talk and get involved more."
