Fire and Rescue Port Macquarie and NSW Rural Fire Service personnel were called to the fire on Lindfield Park Road at 12.06pm on Thursday, July 18.
A NSW Rural Fire Service spokesman said the 35 to 40 hectare fire had made it's way to the southern end of the Port Macquarie Airport.
"Crews from NSW Fire and Rescue, and NSW Rural Fire Service will be working into the night to ensure containment."
"The fire has made it's way towards Hastings River Drive, however the wind is dropping as we move into the evening."

"Initially we saw a small fire, but in a few moments it started to catch on trees," said Mr Purse.
