With many opportunities created in the under-14 fixture, both teams and both goalkeepers played very well defending and deflecting all shots in both halves.
Watts converted her chance when she beat all Football West defenders down the left before slotting it in the top corner.
NNSWF technical advisor Leo Bertos was pleased with how the girls started their national campaign.
"We saw a good couple of individual performances across both age groups," Bertos said.
"Tahlia Sambrook performed well playing out of a familiar position, also good performances were from Mia Veil in midfield and Jessica Watts who scored the goal."
Hastings teammate Chelsea Hall was part of the under-15 side who held on to beat Tasmania 2-1 in their opening game.
