Brisbane Broncos forward Payne Haas and recently-signed Gold Coast Titans halfback Tanah Boyd went through the Pacific Sports Management clinic three years ago.
It has created the pathway for any budding junior rugby league players to follow.
PSM director Simon Healey said the school holiday clinic was aimed at helping prospective junior players mainly in the 13 to 17-year-old age bracket to fine tune their skills.
"We don't limit it (to numbers of players), but we want to be able to take half a dozen boys and girls (to Sydney) from each zone," he said.
"If I can get 20 kids, I'll give 20 kids the opportunity so we just do that 13-17 age group who have a little bit of the ability that really want to learn that little bit extra."
Players attend camps and then can be invited to an academy day down in Sydney where they can rub shoulders with National Rugby League players.
"It's not so much about whether they've got 'it'," Healey said.
"We look at different things - the type of kid they are, their desire to learn - if they're asking questions.
"Some of them are naturally skilled, but natural skill doesn't take you anywhere so it's about dedication too.
"We don't want ratbags, we want kids that want to try hard and learn hard and Port Macquarie has been outstanding.
"It makes us want to come back again."
Healey said there had been an increase of girls attending the camps on the back of the recent success of the Women's National Rugby League.
"With rugby league, we've noticed the fastest growing part of rugby league is with the female game," he said.
"They see the stars on telly, the girls Origin was amazing and we've got young girls from six years of age up to 17 year old girls here.
"It's fantastic to see the girls coming out to all our clinics across the bush."
