Local canines are set for their first dash along the catwalk with Port Macquarie Dachshund Group (PMDG) hosting their fashion show for charity.
The stylist extravaganza will feature about eight dogs strutting their stuff beside models at women's clothing store, Blue Illusion in Port Macquarie from 1pm on July 20.
Funds are being raised for local dachshund, Ziggy Stardust who was diagnosed with Cushing's Disease in June.
PMDG spokesperson Jean Ballands said it's sure to be a friendly and social afternoon of fashion fun.
"We just came up with this idea of doing fundraising for a local dog, Ziggy," she said.
"Although we are are with Dachshunds Rescue Australia, this time 15 per cent of the proceeds on the day will go towards Ziggy's medical bills.
"We are looking at about six to eight dachshunds walking with the models on the catwalk.
"We're hoping that all the other dachshunds will be here dressed up as well.
"Fashion wise, dachshunds are able to be trained to wear little hats and other clothing.
"They can also wear jackets, collars, leads and little scarves although we find they do walk and try to flick boots off.
"I think the most important thing from dachshunds is their companionship and loyalty."
Blue Illusion manager Marina Boros said the fashion show would be very casual for visitors.
"Blue Illusion is one of the companies which consistently supports local charities," she said.
"It's going to be catwalk event utilising comfortable sitting space, french style horderves and some bubbles.
"A great fashion show based on our brand new Bastille Day collection, it's quite informal so anyone can come and go as they please."
Donna Read, who owns Ziggy Stardust said they were thankful for the support from PMDG and the Port Macquarie community.
"He's lost a lot of weight and muscle, a lot of hair and has very little energy," she said.
"Ziggy is very swollen and it's affected his liver.
"We are very grateful for all the support, love and fantastic help the PMDG and Jean Ballands have given us."
