Clear skies, light winds and dry air are combining to deliver colder than average overnight temperatures.
The temperature in Port Macquarie plunged to one degree on Thursday morning (July 11).
The temperature is predicted to drop to four degrees on the morning of Friday, July 12, before warming up to 21 degrees.
The average Port Macquarie maximum temperature for this time of year is about 19 degrees.
Weatherzone meteorologist Kim Wescott said a change would come through on Saturday, July 13.
She said that meant Saturday morning would be a little bit warmer but the day would be a little bit colder as the cold air from the south reached Port Macquarie.
The sun will shine on Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14 with cooler days predicted.
"If you are going camping this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday will be coldish during the day, and you might want to carry some extra gear," Ms Westcott said.
