Amahli is 14 and said she has only had four hair cuts in her lifetime. She decided six months ago to donate her beautiful locks for wigs.
"My hair is part of me and I have always had really long hair so this will be a big change when we do cut it all off," Amahli said.
"I have known a few close friends and relatives who have died from cancer and who lost their hair so I have been thinking about doing something like this for a while.
"Hair will grow back but if I can really make a difference by donating my hair to make a wig then that is a good thing."
As well as donating her hair, Amahli is fundraising for the Love Your Sister charity which was started by siblings Samuel and Connie Johnson after Connie was diagnosed with breast cancer.
"The Love Your Sister charity is such a good cause because no one should have to die from cancer," she said.
"I am hoping to raise $500 for the charity and when I reach my goal I will be cutting off my hair to above my shoulders."
