A maximum-security inmate from the Mid North coast Correctional Centre was allegedly stabbed in an attack yesterday afternoon.

The 31-year-old inmate was taken by ambulance to Port Macquarie Hospital at around 1pm on Monday, July 8.
The prisoner is suffering from a puncture wound to his torso and head injuries.
Three inmates, aged 27, 28 and 35, who are housed in D-pod, have been identified as persons of interest. The three inmates have been placed in segregation.
Two of the three inmates, the 27 and 28 year old will be transferred to another correctional centre while the police investigation into the incident continues.
The 31-year-old inmate is expected to return to the Mid North Coast Correctional Centre later today (July 9).
