Byron Coast, Coffs Coast and Macquarie Coast will be impacted, according to the warning issued by the Bureau of Meteorology on July 3.
Members of the public are encouraged to consider staying out of the water and avoid walking near surf-exposed areas until midnight on Thursday.
Marine Rescue Port Macquarie unit commander Greg Davies said the best option is not to go boating or swimming until conditions clear.
"There are four to five metre swells, we strongly advise no rock fishing, no swimming at the beach and no boats to go out at all," said Mr Davies.
"It's dangerous conditions for today (July 3) and tomorrow (July 4) as far as the forecast says."
The Bureau recommends only swimming at patrolled beaches and skippers planning to cross shallow water or ocean bars should consider delaying their voyage.
"People should always wear life jackets when boating, as proven by the incident on July 1," said Mr Davies.
"If boats are going outside always log on with a Marine Rescue unit on Channel 16 so we know where you are and can assist you if you get into trouble."
