According to meteorologist with weatherzone Jacob Cronje, June 13 saw the mercury rise considerably above the long term average.
Overall, June proved to be hotter for both maximum and minimum temperatures, he said.
"In terms of maximum temperatures, Port Macquarie recorded about a half a degree above the June long term average," he said.
"And, you were also about .3 of a degree above the minimum average for the month.
"That put Port Macquarie just slightly above the long term average.
"It looks like Port Macquarie experienced its hottest June day since at least 2004 with the temperature climbing to 25.8 degrees.
"The long term average maximum temperature is 19.5 degrees while the minimum is 8.2 degrees," he said.
While Port Macquarie-Hastings received 'some fairly decent rainfall' it was still below the long term average for June.
The long term average is 139.3mm with just 106.8mm of rain falling in June 2019.
"While you still crossed the 100mm barrier it is still some 30mm shy of the long term average," he added.
The cloudy conditions that started on Monday look set to continue through much of the week with a few showers likely to fall by late Wednesday or early Thursday morning.
"There looks like more rain likely to fall each day with heavier showers possible on Saturday and Sunday.
"Those falls could reach somewhere between five millimetres and 10mm."
Mr Cronje said a hazardous sea warning issued by the Bureau of Meteorology on Monday July 1 is likely to continue into Tuesday July 2.
