Aces Disability Services support worker Sharon Taylor and Jessica Beresford have proved that with their fundraising efforts for the Give Me 5 For Kids campaign.
The pair have been saving hard for the past 12 months and say they are looking forward to handing over the funds sometime this week.
But the joint effort was born from a tragic accident.
Sharon and her daughter Carley had originally started to drop five cent pieces into jars about 18 months ago.
Sadly, Carley was fatally injured in a motor vehicle accident on Beechwood Road in March last year.
"Shortly after Carley was killed in the accident Jessica came to my home and saw the jar of coins," Sharon said.
"She asked me what the jar was for and why was I putting money in it.
"When I told her about Carley and her accident, Jessica asked if she could start to save her five cent pieces too.
"That was really special to me. Jessica just said, 'can I do that now'."

Sharon said she appreciated how wonderful it was for Jessica to understand and have a willingness to help out.
Jessica immediately started dropping coins into her own jar, taking to the fundraising effort with some zeal.
She approached family, friends and a couple of people at Aces.
"I just wanted to help sick children," she said. "Every little bit helps.
"It makes me feel good and happy to help out the sick kids in our area."
But that's not the end of the fundraising effort for Sharon and Jessica.
They have already set their sights on next year, Sharon said.
"Jessica is a pretty caring young lady.
"It is not that hard to collect a five cent piece, particularly when it goes to helping out sick kids.
"And it is also a continuation (of what Carley and I were doing) too."
Jessica said she just wants to help out and to get more people involved next year.
Give Me 5 For Kids is a national fundraiser for Southern Cross Austereo. It's aim is to raise funds for local children's hospital wards.
Beginning in the mid-'90s as a simple coin drive from the Central Coast region, this annual charity drive has since raised $25.9 million nationally, and benefited over 40 children's hospital wards.
