Fire and Rescue NSW Wauchope attended the scene of a large fire in bushland adjoining the fairway after receiving a call at 9.11pm on Friday.
Wauchope Country Club general manager Caleb Rose said the blaze, which was extinguished after four hours, was started with a pile of wood collected from the course.
"There was a pile of scrap wood which we were managing to clean up from the golf course," said Mr Rose.
"The wood was to be chipped and used around the course.
"The fire was controlled very quickly and was not in a playing area.
"There was no damage to our surfaces so it won't affect play at all."
Rural Fire Service crews from King Creek, Wauchope, Lake Innes as well as Fire and Rescue Laurieton were called to the incident.
"Thanks to the RFS response and emergency services response, nothing was damaged," said Mr Rose.
"It was a bushy area thankfully. If it was on our playing surfaces it would have been much more serious.
"We believe it was deliberately lit, we're not sure who though."
Mr Rose said the club occasionally suffered minor incidents of vandalism in the past, but had not seen a significant fire since the clubhouse was destroyed by fire in 1986.
A NSW Police spokesperson said the fire is believed to be deliberately lit.
