Port Macquarie and visiting members welcomed special guests Trish Jackson, Pearl Toh and Kerrie Walsh for the day at Tennison Wood Centre on Saturday, June 15.
HHD president Claire Loveday said the event was a skills lesson and a social gathering for local members.
"It's often about sharing knowledge," said Ms Loveday.
"We have some from Sydney and Brisbane today because we don't have a lot of cake shops here or demonstrators to improve our skills.
"It's also a good social gathering with people from Tamworth, Brisbane, Kempsey, Taree and Coffs Harbour as well."
During the event members learnt about decorative trains to top cakes, gravity defying balloon cakes and floodwork using royal icing.
"You can use floodwork on biscuits or cakes using royal icing," said Ms Loveday.
"Trish is doing trains for christening cakes and Pearl is doing a gravity defying balloon with a rabbit on it.
"We're just up skilling and seeing what's possible.
"It's essential because many older people don't have the internet where as younger people can look these things up online."
The HHD meets on the third Sunday of each month at Lake Cathie Hall and holds two workshops each year, the next workshop is scheduled for October 20.
The Club will also meet on November 17 and hold an Xmas lunch on December 15.
Next year's workshops will be held on March 15 and June 20.
