Facilitated by CSU's Professor Tracey Green, Executive Dean, Faculty of Business, Justice & Behavioural Sciences, and HBWN professional development coordinator Karina Schiller, over 50 HBWN members and guests attended the interactive and thought-provoking event, unpacking a diverse range of topics, including emotional intelligence and digital media in leadership.
With a goal to enhance leadership skills within a 2.5 hour workshop, the group of business leaders were led through a deep dive exercise with Professor Tracey Green in understanding "unconscious bias", acknowledging what role this plays in decision making and how to develop strategies for greater inclusion.
Ms Schiller, an Australian Community Media consultant, encouraged group members to think online. This session explored how the landscape for digital marketing has changed, data and digital trends in Australia and what business owners can do to reach their customer.
"We don't go online, we live online. With 82 per cent of Australian online users on social media, not having your business actively online means you're missing valuable opportunities to connect with your customer," Ms Schiller said.
Ms Schiller said this style of event was offered to encourage a sharing of knowledge to provide attendees with new take away ideas and strategies for use within their own roles and businesses.
"The HBWN is all about inspiring, supporting and empowering women and the wider community in business. This event served as the perfect opportunity for our members and guests to develop a greater awareness of topical content and have the opportunity to ask questions of professional facilitators and discuss with like-minded people," Ms Schiller said.
