Defending champions from Adelaide Geoff and Vicki Lehmann will return for another tilt at the title having also claimed a top three finish in 2017.
Port City Bowling Club bowls coordinator Phil Baker said it promised to be a successful three-day tournament with a few locals trying to wrestle the title off the Lehmann's.
"The event has been going for about nine years and is fairly unique being a mixed pairs event," he said.
The local charge will be led by Port City's Bruce Anderson and Christine Errington as well as Peter O'Connell and Kylie Hardy.
Bowlers will come from Tasmania, South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales.
"It's a good chance for people to come up and have a holiday in Port Macquarie where they can get away from some of those colder climates," Baker said.
Queensland father-daughter duo Steve and Syarra Blain are also expected to perform well.
"Syarra is one of the more promising young bowlers," Baker said.
"It's great to see that there are more young people taking up the sport and we're finding a lot of younger girls are playing bowls particularly in the open division.
"They are now as good as the boys."
All the action starts at 9am and runs until 4pm from Friday to Sunday at Port City, Westport and Hibbard Bowling Club's.
