Lose one game and calls start to change the side, but wholesale changes to Brad Fittler's men for Origin 2 in Perth will not be the answer.
I would only make a few minor changes to the side: Jack Wighton out, Cody Walker to the bench and James Maloney straight back into five-eighth.
Angus Crichton's spot on the bench would also be better served to another big man to tag-team with David Klemmer.
Maloney's game smarts would have been extremely handy down the stretch when the game was there for the taking.
By recalling him and not Mitchell Pearce, the Blues will field the same spine that won the series last year because the combinations are already there.
It would also allow the Panthers combination of Maloney and Cleary which would be another big tick.
Although Penrith have had a slow start to the season, their last couple of weeks have been an improvement and Maloney has played an integral role in their two-successive wins.
To recall Pearce would pose another potential problem for New South Wales as it would result in two players who call the shots for their clubs having to compromise for their state.
Who would be the dominant playmaker?
The Blues didn't lose game one because the players they had weren't good enough, they lost it because Queensland won the big moments.
It's what they have done for years.
Fittler also needs to be held accountable for the way he ran his bench - Klemmer played 52 minutes straight and then wasn't seen again.
Five-eighth Walker spent time on the pine because he "couldn't get into the game", but the two interchanges the Blues burned with Walker would have been better used on Klemmer.
The Knights prop ran for 144 metres in his 52-minute stint and when he came off, New South Wales started to go backwards and Cameron Munster and Kalyn Ponga took full toll.
Ponga set up two tries with two superb cut-out passes and kicked three goals. New South Wales need to do a much better job on him as they aim to keep the series alive.
He's already a superstar.
