Ken will be remembered with pride in Victoria by his brothers John and Colin and their families, and by his many colleagues in the ornithological communities in NSW and across the width and breadth of Australia.
Ken was well known and well respected in the birding and conservation field and made numerous contributions to birding Australia and to the National Museum. His work in this area is well known and the bird hide at Boyters Lane, Jerseyville owes its existence in part to Ken and his dedicated friends.
He also used to spend hours driving around or trekking through bush, beach and mountain sighting and cataloguing birds and passing that information on to Birding Australia, later NSW Bird Atlas, where he recorded over 100,000 sightings. Ken recorded more than 230 bird species in Boyters Lane over nearly 30 years.
Ken will also be sadly missed by the loving adoptive families of Helen Miles and her daughter Barbara Miles and Barbara's children, whose affection inspired his humane crusades for the avian environment and its contribution to the well being of the community to which he belonged. They brought him happiness and good cheer throughout his life.
