"You've got to have a lot of hate for Queensland," he said.
The former Wauchope Blues junior made his Origin debut in 2017 for New South Wales under-16s and next Wednesday he will run out in the under-18s at Suncorp Stadium.
His record in the sky blue stands at 100 percent and he was looking forward to preserving that in the curtain-raiser to the Origin series opener.
"The Origin mentality is what I learned about in the under-16s," he said.
"It means everything to run out in a sky blue jersey again.
"Growing up watching footy, my parents are pretty mad footy heads and every time Origin comes around you're always screaming for the Blues."
He knows it will be faster and more physical; the demands will be higher in the under-18s, but he's ready.
On what promises to be a special night in Brisbane, it is expected he will be presented with his jersey by New South Wales first grade enforcer David Klemmer.
"He's one of my idols so it will be pretty cool," Hollis said.
The 18-year-old former Wauchope Blues front rower knows what to expect at Queensland's spiritual home.
"Running down the tunnel and you come out into the big open stadium ... words can't describe it especially at the end of the game," he said.
"Because we're the curtain-raiser, the stadium is almost full so it's pretty crazy. It's a great atmosphere up there."
He hasn't put a time frame on when he would like to claim his first senior Blues jumper by - he was more focused on doing the little things right.
"I've got little goals along the way that I want to achieve for my club first," he said.
"I'll just keep ticking boxes, keep grinding away and hopefully I'll get there in the end. It's obviously a dream of mine to make it."
The secret to Hollis' development as a player into the representative scene can be traced back to his junior footy at Wauchope, before he signed with the Parramatta Eels in 2016.
He recently upgraded his contract which will see him in the blue and gold until 2021.
"They push me pretty well down here," he said.
"I'm up playing with the 20s at the moment and last year I got a couple of games in the 20s so it's good playing with the older boys because you learn more.
"It's a lot more physical and faster so it improves your game."
Hollis will be joined by Taree's Mitch Black who has been selected at hooker for the match which kicks off at 5.15pm.
