The current name doesn't mean much and no one seems to know where it is if you ask someone from out of the area. B

Back in the sixties in Queensland no one knew where the 'Near North Coast' was, that is until 1967 where it was officially renamed the Sunshine Coast. Now everyone in Australia knows exactly where it is.

I've been browsing through the May edition of the Focus magazine and there are numerous articles about the popular Koala sculptures around the area.

There's an upcoming "Hello Koalas Festival" on 6-9 June which everyone's enthusiastic about.

Our local area is famous for the local wildlife especially koalas, and we have a Koala hospital. Isn't it time we renamed our area the Koala Coast? Imagine all the tourists this would bring.
