She has fed her children from paddock to plate, yet not only has she lived the simple life of a bygone era for many years, it's what makes the writing of novelist DJ Blackmore so unique.
The coalfields published author with three novels to date, made her debut with Charter to Redemption and sequel Folly, set in a time when Newcastle takes its very first heartbeats as a penal colony.
Now Central to Nowhere chases its heels. This contemporary rural romantic comedy was born during the author's brief spell in central Queensland.
Presently she dares the drought with the willpower of words, tackling her latest rural manuscript set in central west New South Wales.
DJ Blackmore will be sharing her journey at the Port Macquarie Library Friday, June 7 at 3pm.
There will be copies of her novels for purchase, as well as a lucky door prize. This is a free event.
